Hello, all! Does anyone on here read Tamora Pierce's books? I had not, up until a few days ago. I've never been much into fantasy, but my friend Amy, (known as PurringTurtle on here), finally talked me into them. I am currently reading the Circle of Magic books. I enjoy those so much that I plan to read her other works when I'm done. So, what do the rest of you think of Tamora Pierce and her books?

Just a quick note about her books, that is only sort of related to this post. You can purchase an unabridged full cast audio version of the cricle of magic books. I am grabbing what I can from the public library, but snippets I had heard were pretty good. Also, I belive that the only way you can get her from the library for the blind is on tape. It is possible to find etext versions, if you are willing to break a few laws.. (bittorrent)

Yay Tamora Pierce!! I haven't read any of the Circle of Magic books yet, but all the Tortal stuff (Song of the Lioness, The Immortals, etc) can be found on bookshare in both Braille and Daisy formats. I love fantasy and am always looking for new series to explore. I wasn't sure I'd like Tammy much but I was pleasantly surprised. Her books are quick reads, but they're very good.

She is one of my favorite authors. I'd highly recommend them to anyone.

Hi, all. Yes, Krisme, they are quick reads, but sometimes, that's what I'm in the mood for. And when they're good, as these are, I don't mind. I've been sick and off work the last couple weeks, and these quick, but quality books have been just the thing to keep me busy. I also like her strong female leads in most stories.

I've just recently read the Circle of Magic books, and I thought they were excellent. It took me a while to get into them, but once I did I didn't want to stop until I finished them. They're easy reads and don't require a whole lot of concentration, but they held my attention all the way through and her characters are very endearing. Now I want to read her other books.

While I thought the circle of Magic books were very good, I personally prefer her lioness series', and the other related series that she wrote. Actually come to think of it I need to go hunt down her newest book.

i liked the books about alanna, and tricksters queen and those books were pretty good too, but the lioness ones were much better...

I'm not sure I could pick a favorite series. Maybe trickster's queen just because it's the series I started reading first. Though I would suggest reading them in chronological order, as some things make more sense.

addendum: I meant try to read the different series in order. For example, the lioness series first, followed by wild magic series, followed by protector of the small, followed by the trickster's series. (note that I pulled that from memory, and you may wish to reference something more official in case I am remembering them in an incorrect order.)

Yeah, I've read all of her series 'cept for the Song of the Lioness quartet.
My personal favorite from the Tortall serieses was Protector of the Small. Don't ask me why.
And I think personally, my favorite Circle of Magic/Circle opens/Circle Reforged book has to be Magic Steps (The Circle Opens)
And about the Full Cast audio versions...Yes! They're great, in my opinion. All the Circle of Magic books I read were audio books read by the Full Cast people. They're great. :)

I have never read her but after this I think I will go and check them out

Nymphadora and Emerald, let us know what you think if you choose to read any Tamora Pierce. My favorite series is the Protector of the Small. My least favorite series was the Trickster's Queen series. I just didn't care about any of the characters. If anyone who hasn't read her stuff needs to know more about the plots of some of these books, just ask.

hmm. My favorite book by her I think is Tarrier. I loved the trickster's queen series, but part of that may be that that was the first book I read by her.

I haven't read Terrier yet, but I've heard good things. I'll have to read it.
